Bluebird Counseling and Wellness is a female-owned and operated private counseling practice in Northeast Ohio, specializing in the mental wellness of women, children, and adolescents.
We all deserve the opportunity to explore and understand our inner workings and the impacts that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors have upon one another.
I enjoy working with all ages of individuals (and when necessary, their invited supports: partners and family members) to find a balance within learning about and processing their pasts and staying present and building a future full of healing, awareness, and growth. I have learned, once we heighten awareness, we can make changes, and bring forth wellness and contentment in our lives. I promise to guide those I work with through this growth, change and processing with dignity and respect.
Each client is unique and has a unique set of challenges and strengths.
My mode of treatment depends significantly on where you are when we meet. I want to meet you there and help navigate while you make sense of change. I have over 10 years experience working as a mental health therapist. In that time I have helped many clients with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma and other stressor disorders, interpersonal conflict, internal conflict, grief and loss, phase of life problems, divorce, parenting issues, attention/focus issues, impulsivity, anger management, substance misuse, women's health issues, and a variety of other issues. My primary modalities of treatment are cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic approach, person-centered treatment, as well as many others. I am a trauma-informed clinician and participate in continuing education to stay up to date on the most recent successful treatment modalities for those experiencing stressful and traumatic events.
Healing occurs never in a straight line- but in a spiral- where we revisit wounds and challenges again and again until we fully resolve them internally.
I hope you will trust me to provide you with the best care available. I enjoy continuing education to best meet the needs of my clients, enhance my skills, and explore the depths of my own intellect. I know taking the first step towards addressing emotional and social pain and discomfort can be difficult and may be full of vulnerability. Please reach out today and take that first step for yourself. I can help you navigate stressors and challenges to prosper and be well. You deserve it.
My educational/professional background:
I graduated in 2010 from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY with a B.A. in psychology and minor in sociology. I graduated in 2012 from SUNY Oswego in Oswego, NY with a M.S. in mental health counseling. I became licensed by The State of New York in 2012 and then The State of Ohio in 2016. I started my career as an intern student, then permit-holder, and then Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in a private practice in New York that was operated by one of my professors for graduate school. I worked with all ages and demographics in this setting and really enjoyed it-especially my adult and geriatric clients. In 2015, my family relocated to Cleveland, OH and I shifted gears and worked as an early childhood mental health counselor working with children mostly birth to 6 years old, but also some elementary students. In 2018 I moved into a local school as a school-based counselor. During this time, my knowledge of family systems and impacts of home environment on school and the opposite, grew substantially.
I've worked for several different mental health providers but I view my own abilities as a therapist as both an art-form and a science. While agencies I have worked for in the past have been large and profit driven, my #1 priority is to never undervalue my skills and creativity as a healer and provider. There is too much that is magical about what comes through when therapy goes right and feels good (spoiler: it doesn’t always feel great). My clients are not numbers on a spreadsheet. They are souls bared to me, usually at the most difficult and vulnerable moments of life. Your quality of care will always be prioritized and is everything to me. I plan to start small, and stay small, so I can provide the best access and care possible to those I provide services to.
I am married to my husband, Brandon, and have two wonderful daughters Loren and Lucia. We live in Valley City with our dog Skyy and cat Otto. In my spare time I enjoy reading, gardening, running, meditating, and spending time with family and friends.
